To Whom it may concern,
My name is Joe Arnold. I am 43, married, and have two kids. I am a home owner and have always been gainfully employed. I tell you this so as to lend credibility to my opinion of Vern Darlington’s character.
I have known Vern for approximately 13 years as both a friend and coworker. For 2 of those years, we worked very closely on a small police unit dedicated to preventing street level vice crimes and serving high-risk warrants. This particular type of police activity opens officers to attacks on their integrity on a regular basis as these types of investigations are begun and hinge on an officer’s integrity and professionalism. Vern’s integrity has never been in question and his honesty and professionalism during those years protected both his and other officer’s reputations and employment without fail. I trust Vern and his word without question.
As a coworker, I also appreciated Vern’s industriousness and diligence in seeing a job done right and well. If he is on a task he is doing something and working toward a resolution for whatever problem or incident is being worked. He routinely recognized things that needed to be done and did them without prompting making him a valuable teammate.
As a personal friend, I know Vern to be generous and kind. He routinely offers help and comfort to friends and acquaintances that are having personal troubles. His friendship is so valued that many people, myself and my wife included, travelled to another country to see him get married to his wonderful wife.
Vern also has a forward thinking quality and strives to take on challenges and improve himself. Even though he was employed and successfully forging a career as a police officer he went to college and continued towards a degree for his personal achievement. At the same time, he served all his fellow officers by winning election to the local police association and helped to negotiate contracts that benefitted every officer in his department. Vern was elected to do that because he also has a shrewd business sense and is very good at negotiating any type of trade or commerce deal.
There is no doubt in my mind that Vern Darlington is a person who exhibits the highest quality of character in both his personal and professional lives. If polled I don’t believe you could find a person who knows Vern to say a bad word about him. I trust him implicitly and value him as both friend and coworker.
Sincerely,
Joe Arnold
